  • Katrina Marzella has been hailed as the leading baritone horn player of her generation. Her musical development owes much to the rich brass band heritage she encountered growing up in West Lothian, Scotland. In her youth, Katrina played with the West Lothian Schools Brass Band and was Principal Baritone of both the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland and the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.

Katrina was the Scottish Schools Solo Champion for five consecutive years between 1997 and 2001. In February 2004, she won both the Scottish Youth and Open Solo Championships, becoming the first person in 30 years to hold both titles simultaneously.

Katrina is passionate about the baritone horn and has commissioned new original solo repertoire for the instrument. Many of these works are featured on her debut solo CD, entitled Katrina, which was released to critical acclaim in 2009. (Excerpts taken from Ms. Marzella’s website).
