    Vic Firth Education Center: Vic Firth is a legendary percussionist. For the past 40 years, Mr. Firth has been a leader in percussion education.  He became a Department Head at the New England Conservatory soon after he graduated from there with high honors in 1952.  Since becoming solo timpanist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1952, Vic has performed with such prestigious groups as the Boston Pops, Boston Ballet, Boston Opera Company and the Saito Kinen Orchestra in Japan.  In addition, Vic has performed on over 400 recordings.
